Mission
To advance the human rights of women and girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
RightsTech Women works to achieve gender parity in STEM education and employment by 2030.
Vision
RightsTech Women is a service organization that advances the rights of girls and women who are learners and professionals in STEM fields (“the rights holders”). RightsTech Women brings stakeholders together, and shares information and resources so that:
- Rights holders are empowered and know their rights and how to claim them both internationally and in every day, practical settings. Rights holders and all stakeholders know what the enjoyment of relevant rights looks like and what standards apply.
- There are more women and girls in STEM fields, reaching gender parity in STEM education and professions at all levels by 2030.
- Societies are fair and equal. There is equal compensation for the same work regardless of sex.
- Women are increasingly involved in steering the direction of the development of and benefits of science and its applications. Their accomplishments are equally recognized and attributed.
- Women and men, and girls and boys, can participate equally in solving global, 21st century problems and in implementing the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and other relevant global initiatives.
- The human rights of women and girls in STEM fields are well recognized in international, national and local standards, which are implemented by States and other relevant stakeholders, in consultation with the rights holders. UN Member States, national human rights institutions (NHRIs), educational institutions, businesses, United Nations entities and other relevant international organizations adopt and implement a human rights approach to women and girls in STEM education and employment.
- Organizations working to increase the numbers of women and girls in STEM fields, such as initiatives of computer programming workshops for women and girls, are trained on and help to publicize the relevant human rights standards.
- People of all genders working in STEM are aware of relevant international human rights standards. Negative stereotypes and inherently discriminatory structures and biases are dismantled.
- STEM fields and human rights fields professionals are networked and they harness synergies and share tools to advance the rights holders’ rights. They promote and share best practices between human rights and STEM fields and mutually build each others’ capacities.

Impact
RightsTech Women trains girls and women on STEM skills needed for the jobs of today and tomorrow. At the same time, it trains stakeholders on human rights applicable to girls and women in STEM education and employment. RightsTech Women has already reached hundreds of participants in our trainings, so far for girls and teachers. Aiming to scale its work to 33 countries in five regions, RightsTech Women’s impact is a network of STEM-skilled and informed rights holders and other stakeholders.
RightsTech Women’s main beneficiaries are girls and women who are learners and professionals in STEM. This includes emerging professionals, such as women who are re-skilling in STEM skills in order to access current tools and information, regardless of their field of employment.
