STEM fields desperately need more girls and women. The demand for software engineers is continuously growing and at the same time, the number of women engineers is low. What is worse, it is slowly declining. In Switzerland, only 11% of STEM graduates are women.
How to reverse the trend? By showing girls that technology is fun and that it is not mainly for boys! We will do it on Saturday, 9 March 2019, during Geneva’s Equality Week 2019 with the support of Ville de Genève and HEPIA and together with the associations CERN Micro Club, CERN Women in Technology, On L’Fait and Informasciences.
We have prepared free workshops for girls in two age groups (10-18 and 6-9). Participants may choose a morning or an afternoon session for their age group. Girls aged 10-18 can also do one workshop in the morning and a different one in the afternoon. These workshops start with an easy, interactive introduction to human rights, featuring some famous women in science and technology.
All workshops are free, no equipment is needed, and absolute beginners are welcomed in both age groups.
All details (in English and French) and free tickets are available on Eventbrite. See you there!
